Below Marriott Standards….even after a complaint was filed!!

Poor. Marriott can do better and elected not to. The front door of the property requires a security guard to open if you don’t have a key. As I departed at 4;25am to catch an Uber to the hotel I was immediately hit as I stepped outside, taunted and followed around the car/Uber. I guess if there was some ‘luck’ that the person was female and I was not too worried as this person was obviously much to animated at 4;25 that I was. As I filed a complaint with Marriott, the “copy and paste reply” continued to be below Marriott standards. This could have become seriously ugly. Be super careful at this property, especially as the sun sets. Marriott failed on a couple levels here. As someone with over 1000 nights this will not keep me from being a super loyal customer. Disappointed that they seem to care less and send me a BS reply when, again, this could have been ugly with injuries or legal if things were slightly different…

The hotel is newly remodeled and is super clean and comfortable. The real reason for this review however, is for the professionalism of the front desk staff. They were all great and very helpful. One standout was Roderick V., the night auditor. Me and my kids were checking in very late, and I had a weird issue with my reservation that he was able to correct. He went above and beyond to do this and ensured we all had beds to sleep in, and then even got us moved to a better room the next day. I am a lifetime Platinum Marriott member and I can tell you from experience, there are few hotels these days that have staff that would be this accommodating.

Everything the others have written is true. The Hotel with all its advance emails could have let you know a 16 story building had 1 working elevator. Had I had time I would of went elsewhere. The hotel needs the renovations they are planning. However, that will not change the poor staff. That starts from the Manager Nicky Haley. Her refusal to return calls or even take calls shows the staff that they do not need care as well. You should stay away from the area. Yes, Drug deals are outside. When car was received from the Valet is smelled like pot. Had to stop and get Fabrez. We the management was shown photos of poor AC maintenance (Dirty filter), causing room to smell. THEY DID NOTHING. Had to request a room change. That was an order with one working elevator. This one hotel and experience with the staff has turned me off to the Marroitt Brand.

Avoid. This has to be one of the sketchiest areas I’ve ever been to. I was here for a work trip and needed an early checkin to my room. After calling Marriot, this hotel was all that was available. Without reading reviews or looking, I booked it—regrettably. Even just walking out to the curb for an Uber was extremely unsafe with lots of rift raft, crime, and sketchy looking people. The hotel itself was mediocre, a bit dated and one of the elevators was not working so trying to get up to my room or go down to the lobby took ages. Moving on: Even after messaging hotel staff the day prior regarding my early checking time, the representative seemed surprised by my early arrival and was reluctant to “switch some things around” to get me a room. This was after having confirmed my early checkin twice! The room itself was okay. The ventilation had fragrance infused which was nice. Overall this aspect of the stay wasn’t that bad, but the overall experience of checkin and the rough area made this not a great choice for a stay.

Thus hotel is located at the entrance to what once was a awesome location, Atlanta Underground. What used to be a vibrant party scene is now a nasty place to avoid. Drug deals taking place out front of the hotel in the open. Seedy looking people everywhere, the stench of urine, or weed. Don’t be frighten though as there’s security 24/7. The hotel has obviously seen better years…not quite up to the experience I typically have at a Fairfield Inn. Stayed at one in Charlotte the week prior and it was night and day. The HVAC was out of service which led to an uncomfortably warm room. If not for the fan they provided I wouldn’t have been able to tolerate it. Can’t say the same for my grandson I. The pull out couch, as he didn’t have a fan. Speaking of the couch, if it were mine it would be heading to the dump, I wouldn’t even bother giving it to Goodwill. I complained to the management about the HVAC issue and the comped me enough Bonvoy points for a free night at a mid-range Marriott property. That was much appreciated.
